Race Instructions

All participants

Packets are available for pickup at the Liliokalani Park on July 3 from noon to 5. Look for the run table near the tea house parking lot on Banyan Drive. Packets are also available from 6 to 6:45 am on Monday, July 4, but it can get really busy with people trying to register and get done before the run starts. If you want to pick up your packet in Pahoa on Saturday, please call or text Pat at 936-7611 to make arrangements. Please check carefully that the information on the bottom of your bib number is the correct name, age, gender and type of race (run or walk). Incorrect information may result in your winning in the wrong category or not getting a win you deserve. When you cross the finish line, you get a stick with your place number and someone removes the tag on your bib. Again, in order to facilitate timing, please wear your bib on the front as the timer needs to see your number when you cross the finish line. Take the stick back to registration table or to one of the people with ipads by the finish line/water station and have it recorded with your bib number. Be sure you get the stick with the number in the order you finish, this will determine your finish place.

Runners

You will make a full loop around the park, then on the second lap go straight ahead past Suisan, turn right at the highway, cross the bridge, run down towards the Canoe Club area to the turn-around sign and come back down Banyan drive and around the park in the opposite direction and thru the finish line. Those who have run this race before, please note that the finish chute is in the opposite direction this year after you run the opposite way around the park.

Walkers

You will start about 5 minutes behind the runners. You will walk five times around the park in order to complete the 5K distance. Please give right away to the runners as they lap the park and again as they return and loop the park in the opposite direction. You are reminded that walkers are to walk and not run as this is not fair to other walkers. Each time you complete a lap you will get a rubber band of a different color. Once you have collected red, white, blue and black rubber bands, on your next time around you walk thru the finish chute and across the finish line receiving a finish stick with your place number and someone removes the tag on your bib. Please do not claim a stick unless you have completed the 5 laps.
